Narrative:
The assigned runway was runway 19R prfum SID. After takeoff; the tower did not give me the usual handoff to departure control. Well into the initial climb; I asked the tower if he wanted me to change over to departure control. The las vegas tower acknowledged the error and directed me to switch to departure control. During this time period there was a momentary loss of FMS display. My initial contact with departure control was made. The controller's demeanor was immediately defensive. I believe we assumed the late handoff was due to a failure on my part. The controller appeared stressed. Both in accusatory and demeaning phrases he made less than professional comments. The initial failure of the tower to complete a timely handoff to departure control was the catalyst to this incident. Heavy traffic load and momentary equipment loss led an overworked controller to momentarily lose his professionalism. Perhaps additional supervisory staffing could recognize these situations and step in to assist. Departures could have been delayed and overworked controllers given breaks.

Title: CREW DEPARTING LAS HAS VERBAL CONFRONTATION WITH DEP CTLR.
Narrative: THE ASSIGNED RWY WAS RWY 19R PRFUM SID. AFTER TKOF; THE TWR DID NOT GIVE ME THE USUAL HDOF TO DEP CTL. WELL INTO THE INITIAL CLB; I ASKED THE TWR IF HE WANTED ME TO CHANGE OVER TO DEP CTL.
