Narrative:
While cruising at 2000 ft AGL; my single engine suddenly lost power. I was unable to maintain altitude in an area of homes and trees. Fortunately I was able to make a wheels up landing in a plowed field with no damage to the airplane and no injury to myself. I regret that I was unable to make the grass strip of the maple plain airport; but it was prudent to choose the plowed field. I can possibly be subject to a violation because I do not have a current biennial review in my logbook. I guess I plead arrogance (not ignorance). I have my thousands of hours of military flying and 123 carrier lndgs; 30 perfect yrs with airlines. As a result I neglected the biennial review requirement and I also know that I violated a hard and fast rule of GA in doing so.
