Narrative:
I contacted the tower on approach (119.3). The tower said contact 5 mi east at 1200 ft (traffic pattern). I did all of the right procedures; but for some reason I had a mindset for runway 26; which is normally the duty runway. On this day runway 8 was active. At the same time the tower controller had 1 plane doing touch-and-goes (cessna skyhawk) and a check flight (military); and me on the scope. The controller put all of his attention on the military flight after telling me I was #2 behind the cessna doing touch-and-goes. I landed and at the same time the cessna skyhawk had started to land (runway 8). I was landing in the wrong direction and on the wrong runway (runway 26). The skyhawk applied power and sidestep to the right with no problems. There was enough for both of us. There was no danger of an accident due to the runway confign. The runway is approximately 100 ft wide. Once I was on the ground; I was told to call the tower. I did. The controller had to call me back. When he did; that is when I found out where he put his attention. He stated that they would have to write this up; just how far it will go is up to the tower chief. Normally when you are coming from the east to the west; the tower tells you to pass over the field at 1200 ft for the right downwind to runway 8. That statement was never made. I know it is no excuse; but I was just having a very bad day. I found out that I had to put $1000 into sealing up a leaking fuel tank; and that I had to fly back to ZZZ1 for maintenance next week. I have thought long and hard on what happened; and I still do not know why I had mindset for runway 26 instead of runway 8; other than to say it was a temporary lapse in concentration.

Title: A DISTRACTED C177 PILOT LANDED WRONG DIRECTION ON THE ACTIVE RWY BUT AVOIDED THE OTHER LANDING ACFT BECAUSE OF THE 100 FT WIDE RWY.
Narrative: I CONTACTED THE TWR ON APCH (119.3). THE TWR SAID CONTACT 5 MI E AT 1200 FT (TFC PATTERN). I DID ALL OF THE RIGHT PROCS; BUT FOR SOME REASON I HAD A MINDSET FOR RWY 26; WHICH IS NORMALLY THE DUTY RWY. ON THIS DAY RWY 8 WAS ACTIVE. AT THE SAME TIME THE TWR CTLR HAD 1 PLANE DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES (CESSNA SKYHAWK) AND A CHK FLT (MIL); AND ME ON THE SCOPE. THE CTLR PUT ALL OF HIS ATTN ON THE MIL FLT AFTER TELLING ME I WAS #2 BEHIND THE CESSNA DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES. I LANDED AND AT THE SAME TIME THE CESSNA SKYHAWK HAD STARTED TO LAND (RWY 8). I WAS LNDG IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AND ON THE WRONG RWY (RWY 26). THE SKYHAWK APPLIED PWR AND SIDESTEP TO THE R WITH NO PROBS. THERE WAS ENOUGH FOR BOTH OF US. THERE WAS NO DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE RWY CONFIGN. THE RWY IS APPROX 100 FT WIDE. ONCE I WAS ON THE GND; I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE TWR. I DID. THE CTLR HAD TO CALL ME BACK. WHEN HE DID; THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT WHERE HE PUT HIS ATTN. HE STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO WRITE THIS UP; JUST HOW FAR IT WILL GO IS UP TO THE TWR CHIEF. NORMALLY WHEN YOU ARE COMING FROM THE E TO THE W; THE TWR TELLS YOU TO PASS OVER THE FIELD AT 1200 FT FOR THE R DOWNWIND TO RWY 8. THAT STATEMENT WAS NEVER MADE. I KNOW IT IS NO EXCUSE; BUT I WAS JUST HAVING A VERY BAD DAY. I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD TO PUT $1000 INTO SEALING UP A LEAKING FUEL TANK; AND THAT I HAD TO FLY BACK TO ZZZ1 FOR MAINT NEXT WK. I HAVE THOUGHT LONG AND HARD ON WHAT HAPPENED; AND I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHY I HAD MINDSET FOR RWY 26 INSTEAD OF RWY 8; OTHER THAN TO SAY IT WAS A TEMPORARY LAPSE IN CONCENTRATION.
