Narrative:

I noticed EICAS; message hydraulic quantity (no master caution by the way?) saw status message on lower screen. Brought up the status page and saw center hydraulic quantity down to 35% level. I asked the first officer for the irregulars procedures. I then looked up on the overhead panel and saw the hydraulic quantity light on. We ran the procedure and accomplished all items. Contacted dispatch and maintenance and talked about the situation. All agreed to continue to destination. When we approached destination airspace they said they had a few questions for us. Souls onboard; fuel onboard; and any special requests. I did not declare an emergency. I did not request the equipment and personnel to deploy to the runway of landing. We lowered the landing gear first; no problem. The flaps and slats were next and did not deploy; so we used the alternate method. We used flaps 20 degrees for landing in case of go around. The ATC control tower advised us that our company insisted that equipment and personnel be standing by. After an uneventful landing I exited the runway and was told to come to a complete stop. I was then surrounded by trucks and personnel. This was totally unexpected to me. We were told we had smoke coming from the right main landing gear. We were towed to the gate.

Narrative: I NOTICED EICAS; MESSAGE HYD QUANTITY (NO MASTER CAUTION BY THE WAY?) SAW STATUS MESSAGE ON LOWER SCREEN. BROUGHT UP THE STATUS PAGE AND SAW CTR HYD QUANTITY DOWN TO 35% LEVEL. I ASKED THE FO FOR THE IRREGULARS PROCS. I THEN LOOKED UP ON THE OVERHEAD PANEL AND SAW THE HYD QUANTITY LIGHT ON. WE RAN THE PROC AND ACCOMPLISHED ALL ITEMS. CONTACTED DISPATCH AND MAINT AND TALKED ABOUT THE SITUATION. ALL AGREED TO CONTINUE TO DEST. WHEN WE APCHED DEST AIRSPACE THEY SAID THEY HAD A FEW QUESTIONS FOR US. SOULS ONBOARD; FUEL ONBOARD; AND ANY SPECIAL REQUESTS. I DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER. I DID NOT REQUEST THE EQUIP AND PERSONNEL TO DEPLOY TO THE RWY OF LNDG. WE LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR FIRST; NO PROB. THE FLAPS AND SLATS WERE NEXT AND DID NOT DEPLOY; SO WE USED THE ALTERNATE METHOD. WE USED FLAPS 20 DEGS FOR LNDG IN CASE OF GAR. THE ATC CTL TWR ADVISED US THAT OUR COMPANY INSISTED THAT EQUIP AND PERSONNEL BE STANDING BY. AFTER AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG I EXITED THE RWY AND WAS TOLD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I WAS THEN SURROUNDED BY TRUCKS AND PERSONNEL. THIS WAS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED TO ME. WE WERE TOLD WE HAD SMOKE COMING FROM THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR. WE WERE TOWED TO THE GATE.
