Narrative:
Upon initial descent to ZZZ right engine would not reduce below 75% N1. Contacted maintenance and dispatch and tried to get engine to reduce thrust. It wouldn't and we elected to shut the engine down and divert to ZZZ1 for the longer runway. The landing was uneventful and we taxied to the gate.

Title: B737-300 FLT CREW EXPERIENCED STUCK THROTTLE ON DESCENT. THEY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND DIVERTED.
Narrative: UPON INITIAL DSCNT TO ZZZ R ENG WOULD NOT REDUCE BELOW 75% N1. CONTACTED MAINT AND DISPATCH AND TRIED TO GET ENG TO REDUCE THRUST. IT WOULDN'T AND WE ELECTED TO SHUT THE ENG DOWN AND DIVERT TO ZZZ1 FOR THE LONGER RWY. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE TAXIED TO THE GATE.
