Narrative:
The event occurred because at 18;000 ft we didn't adjust altimeters to 29.92 and cross check. We were en route to mci. When we landed in mci we were told to call indy center. We were at 34;000 ft when talking to indy center when we got a TCAS TA; only a TA not an RA. The autopilot was on; and when we looked at our altitude the altitude read 34;000 ft. But; on closer inspection the altimeters were not reading 29.92. It was reading the baro setting for origin. We both pulled the baro knob and set it to 29.92. We were somewhere around 150-180 feet below 34;000 ft. We never saw the traffic; we found out later from the phone conversation from indy center it was a B737. Apparently the B737 received an RA alert. The controllers never said anything to us about traffic or our altitude during the entire flight.
