Narrative:
SID calls for initial level off of 1500 ft until a specified DME off teb and then climb to 2000 ft. I; as captain; depended on my first officer; who is highly experienced and has flown out of teb many times; to read the departure and set up the panel. He did not notice the 1500 ft leveloff and put 2000 ft in the altitude window. I made the error of not cross checking the departure. On initial climb; ny departure asked if we were going to level at 1500 ft as we were passing 1300 ft. Aircraft momentarily went to 1600 ft before we got back down to 1500 ft. Slower rate of climb due to noise abatement procedure kept us from overshooting more than 100 ft. Two people need to be present when copying ATC clrncs and both should review departure procedures.

Title: A BE40 OVERSHOT THE 1500 FT TEB 5 LEVEL OFF BY 100 FT AFTER THE FO INCORRECTLY SET THE MCP FOR THE CAPT DURING THE PREFLT BRIEF. THE CREW DESCENDED TO 1500 FT.
Narrative: SID CALLS FOR INITIAL LEVEL OFF OF 1500 FT UNTIL A SPECIFIED DME OFF TEB AND THEN CLB TO 2000 FT. I; AS CAPT; DEPENDED ON MY FO; WHO IS HIGHLY EXPERIENCED AND HAS FLOWN OUT OF TEB MANY TIMES; TO READ THE DEP AND SET UP THE PANEL. ON INITIAL CLB; NY DEP ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO LEVEL AT 1500 FT AS WE WERE PASSING 1300 FT. ACFT MOMENTARILY WENT TO 1600 FT BEFORE WE GOT BACK DOWN TO 1500 FT. SLOWER RATE OF CLB DUE TO NOISE ABATEMENT PROC KEPT US FROM OVERSHOOTING MORE THAN 100 FT. TWO PEOPLE NEED TO BE PRESENT WHEN COPYING ATC CLRNCS AND BOTH SHOULD REVIEW DEP PROCS.
