Narrative:
Previously filed; cleared; and flying the cqy 6 arrival aex transition. Reduced speed and deviating south of course for en route thunderstorms. With little notice; and at approximately XA12Z received new clearance direct to capti intersection to hold as published. Both crew members heard tacke and captain read back tacke. First officer observed that there is no published hold for tacke. First officer asked captain to verify clearance with ATC. Captain attempted to do so; but due to congestion on the frequency was unable to do so in ample time. Communication with ATC finally established after flying past capti; then cleared left turn direct to capti for the published hold. More thunderstorms encountered over capti and was told by ATC to deviate as necessary and 'just hold in the area of capti.' held for some time; dfw began accepting arrs; reclred dumpy 2 arrival and landed dfw without further incident.

Title: AN ACR CREW ARRIVING DFW RECEIVED A SHORT NOTICE HOLDING CLRNC WHILE DEVIATING FOR WX. A MISCOMMUNICATION LED THE CREW TO MISS THE HOLDING FIX ENTRY.
Narrative: PREVIOUSLY FILED; CLRED; AND FLYING THE CQY 6 ARR AEX TRANSITION. REDUCED SPD AND DEVIATING S OF COURSE FOR ENRTE TSTMS. WITH LITTLE NOTICE; AND AT APPROX XA12Z RECEIVED NEW CLRNC DIRECT TO CAPTI INTXN TO HOLD AS PUBLISHED. BOTH CREW MEMBERS HEARD TACKE AND CAPT READ BACK TACKE. FO OBSERVED THAT THERE IS NO PUBLISHED HOLD FOR TACKE. FO ASKED CAPT TO VERIFY CLRNC WITH ATC. CAPT ATTEMPTED TO DO SO; BUT DUE TO CONGESTION ON THE FREQ WAS UNABLE TO DO SO IN AMPLE TIME. COM WITH ATC FINALLY ESTABLISHED AFTER FLYING PAST CAPTI; THEN CLRED L TURN DIRECT TO CAPTI FOR THE PUBLISHED HOLD. MORE TSTMS ENCOUNTERED OVER CAPTI AND WAS TOLD BY ATC TO DEVIATE AS NECESSARY AND 'JUST HOLD IN THE AREA OF CAPTI.' HELD FOR SOME TIME; DFW BEGAN ACCEPTING ARRS; RECLRED DUMPY 2 ARR AND LANDED DFW WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
