Narrative:

We had delayed takeoff for windshear consideration. No reported windshear at time of takeoff roll. First officer made one call of airspeed hang up. I noted the speed tape and it was not negative. At 140 KTS; the first officer called hang up once again. I noted the airspeed tape at a minimum 10 KT negative trend. At the same time; I was applying full or nearly full right rudder. I then aborted the takeoff. We did clear the runway. We asked for assistance in the form of fire trucks when the abort was first reported to tower. They didn't hear us and sent us over to ground. Fire trucks were asked for three times. At one time I asked ground if they could see any smoke coming from our mains. I don't think I ever received an answer. We couldn't get it conveyed to ATC that we were not going to taxi any further and we needed fire assistance. Supplemental information from acn 743089: fire rescue arrived and were great in communicating with us. They chocked the nosewheel right away and gave us information on the condition of the aircraft. One right main mount tire seemed to be low and there was some debris under the tire. After our communications with tower during/after the abort; I felt as if ATC did not understand that we needed to stay put and had requested firefighting assistance. The flight attendants were great at keeping everyone in the seats and assisting the customers while we coordinated the transportation.
