Narrative:
A radome from company X for an airbus A340 was brought in to the shop. The supervisor told us to start working the A340 radome. We were told the customer wanted the 2 holes repaired and that was all. The customer was going to put the part into service and that our engineering was going to give us the repair for the 2 holes. Engineering looked at the part and instructed us how he wanted it repaired. We repaired it to his instruction. Three days later; the lead mechanic told us that the part was brought in to the building not using the proper far 145 procedures. Supplemental information from acn 747976: a radome (A340) was brought into our shop and repaired without the proper authority/authorized from the customer or a qa receiving inspection per the inspection manual for 145 work. Supplemental information from acn 747996: I was instructed to paint an A340 radome by my supervisor; without any knowledge of the proper authority/authorized or shop order calling out the proper procedures; authority/authorized; material.
