Narrative:
On initial contact with socal we had just passed civet and were given a clearance to descend via the civet 5 arrival to runway 25L. I read back our flight number cleared to descend via civet 5 arrival. After passing camdi; approach asked us which runway we were cleared to. I stated runway 24R. He then came back and stated we were cleared for runway 25L. I asked for an initial heading to intercept runway 25L. He cordially acknowledged by telling me to turn left heading 230 degrees and descend to 10000 ft. We intercepted runway 25L and he gave us step down altitudes to gaate. He then cleared us for the approach. When we landed I called socal and asked them to pull the tape to verify our initial clearance. He stated the tape revealed we were cleared via runway 25L and on my initial readback I omitted to state runway 25L. Given that I failed to acknowledge runway 25L in my initial response to socal maybe they could have repeated the clearance to fly the arrival to runway 25L.

Title: AN ACR PLT FAILED TO READ BACK APCH CLRNC FOR LAX RWY 25L AND BEGAN AN APCH TO RWY 24R. ATC RE-CLEARED ACFT TO RWY 25L.
Narrative: ON INITIAL CONTACT WITH SOCAL WE HAD JUST PASSED CIVET AND WERE GIVEN A CLRNC TO DSND VIA THE CIVET 5 ARR TO RWY 25L. I READ BACK OUR FLT NUMBER CLRED TO DSND VIA CIVET 5 ARR. AFTER PASSING CAMDI; APCH ASKED US WHICH RWY WE WERE CLRED TO. I STATED RWY 24R. HE THEN CAME BACK AND STATED WE WERE CLRED FOR RWY 25L. I ASKED FOR AN INITIAL HDG TO INTERCEPT RWY 25L. HE CORDIALLY ACKNOWLEDGED BY TELLING ME TO TURN L HDG 230 DEGS AND DSND TO 10000 FT. WE INTERCEPTED RWY 25L AND HE GAVE US STEP DOWN ALTITUDES TO GAATE. HE THEN CLRED US FOR THE APCH. WHEN WE LANDED I CALLED SOCAL AND ASKED THEM TO PULL THE TAPE TO VERIFY OUR INITIAL CLRNC. HE STATED THE TAPE REVEALED WE WERE CLRED VIA RWY 25L AND ON MY INITIAL READBACK I OMITTED TO STATE RWY 25L. GIVEN THAT I FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE RWY 25L IN MY INITIAL RESPONSE TO SOCAL MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE REPEATED THE CLRNC TO FLY THE ARR TO RWY 25L.
