Narrative:
Deviation from procedure/regulation logbook. We flew from ZZZ1 to ZZZ2 and back to ZZZ1. The first officer I was flying with had just called me and told me that the first officer that was flying the next flight told him that they had an FAA inspector on their flight and that the inspector told him that the MEL was not complied with for cdl 57-X. He told them that maintenance had removed more than just the metal slat seal from the wing and the aircraft was grounded until it was fixed. When I flew this aircraft; I did not know that they did not remove the slat seal as per the maintenance manual procedure for cdl 57-X. I have copied the aircraft maintenance log for the write-up and it is below. 'Slat segment seal binding between first 2 slats on right wing. Slat segment metal seal missing between zero and slat 1 r-hand side.' callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated he heard that maintenance did not re-install an access panel after removing the slat seal.
