Narrative:
I was working all departure and satellite sectors combined. Air carrier X departed the west parallel and air carrier Y departed the east parallel at the same time. While that was happening; the data controller reconfigured the departure printers; so that I did not have a flight strip for the east departure. When the new controller came to split out the east sector (I was working at the west) he configured; so that his aircraft would not display at my position. Although this is common; I could not see aircraft I was working until the split was completed. So when air carrier Y called off the east runway; I had no flight strip and no data block. So I issued a turn to air carrier X to heading 270 degrees. Air carrier Y accepted the wbound heading despite his east destination and I was charged with an error.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLT APCH CTLR EXPERIENCED OPERROR BETWEEN TWO SIMULTANEOUS DEPS FROM PARALLEL RWYS AS SECTORS WERE BEING DE-COMBINED.
Narrative: I WAS WORKING ALL DEP AND SATELLITE SECTORS COMBINED. ACR X DEPARTED THE W PARALLEL AND ACR Y DEPARTED THE E PARALLEL AT THE SAME TIME. WHILE THAT WAS HAPPENING; THE DATA CTLR RECONFIGURED THE DEP PRINTERS; SO THAT I DID NOT HAVE A FLT STRIP FOR THE E DEP. WHEN THE NEW CTLR CAME TO SPLIT OUT THE E SECTOR (I WAS WORKING AT THE W) HE CONFIGURED; SO THAT HIS ACFT WOULD NOT DISPLAY AT MY POS. ALTHOUGH THIS IS COMMON; I COULD NOT SEE ACFT I WAS WORKING UNTIL THE SPLIT WAS COMPLETED. SO WHEN ACR Y CALLED OFF THE E RWY; I HAD NO FLT STRIP AND NO DATA BLOCK. SO I ISSUED A TURN TO ACR X TO HDG 270 DEGS. ACR Y ACCEPTED THE WBOUND HDG DESPITE HIS E DEST AND I WAS CHARGED WITH AN ERROR.
