Narrative:

Immediately after takeoff the pressurization system went into emergency mode. The copilot and I were trying to restore the pressurization system to normal mode and we inadvertently flew through our cleared altitude of 8000 ft. This happened in about 60 seconds since we were taking off from a field elevation of 5883 ft. We leveled off at 9000 ft and contacted departure control. The controller immediately cleared us to 12000 ft and said nothing about our altitude. There was no other traffic in the area. We were both preoccupied with the problem instead of one flying and one dealing with the emergency.
