Narrative:
Myself; mr X; mr Y; and mr Z were on a road trip to ZZZ to troubleshoot a high N2 condition on aircraft X #1 engine. After we ran the engines several times; and with the help of maintenance control and the rolls royce representative; lubed the cvg actuator. We then temporarily installed the l-hand inner bypass duct. After myself and mr Y ran the engines for 30-45 seconds; we seen mr Z waving to shut down; and we did. When we stepped out of the aircraft and seen that the inner bypass panel had come loose. Mr X then called maintenance control to notify them of the situation. After shutdown; we looked inside the #1 engine and seen that the inner bypass was damaged. We were out on the ramp where the temperature was below freezing. Because we were on the road trip we did not have the resources to have all the maintenance manual. While on road trips need to slow down and think things through. Always have more than 1 person watching; have the proper technical data; and watch the environmental factors.
