Narrative:
Arrived to work. The area's staffing was in the single digits when we should have around 14 to staff the area. As a result; I was on position for 2 hours 45 mins the first time around; with a 15 min break and then back in to work another 2 hours 30 mins. After the second time around; I was feeling fatigued and not giving 100% of my concentration that the separation of aircraft deserve. I fear this type of wearing on not just me; but our workforce is a danger to the flying public. Twice I was forced to work without a d-side during a very busy push. The first time a supervisor took away the d-side because it was the end of his shift and both I and the d-side did not feel comfortable leaving the sector one manned; but there was no staffing available.
