Narrative:
During taxi; the flight attendant chimed us about 4 times in rapid succession. We answered and were told that there was smoke and strong fumes in the back of the airplane. I asked her if she could tell me more specifically where the smoke was coming from and she hung up and went to look. She again called about 4 times rapidly and informed us that she could not tell where the smoke was coming from; but it was getting worse. I asked first officer to get hold of tower to taxi out of sequence so we could figure out our next course of action; but the frequency was busy and he couldn't get in right away. Meanwhile; the flight attendant called back again with 4 rapid chimes and said in a panicked voice that it was really bad and that she had already moved all passenger toward the front of the aircraft. At this time I told first officer to get hold of tower and tell them that we needed to get off the active taxiway and that we were going to deplane because of smoke in the cabin and to send the fire trucks. I turned off at the next exit and shut down. Once shut down; I opened the cockpit door and immediately noticed smoke and very noxious fumes that immediately burned my eyes and throat. I told first officer to help the flight attendant with the deplaning; and he did. Once everyone was off the plane; I walked through the plane to make sure everyone was off and then I also deplaned.

Title: SF340 EVACUATES ON TAXI DUE TO SMOKE AND NOXIOUS FUMES IN CABIN.
Narrative: DURING TAXI; THE FLT ATTENDANT CHIMED US ABOUT 4 TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION. I ASKED FO TO GET HOLD OF TWR TO TAXI OUT OF SEQUENCE SO WE COULD FIGURE OUT OUR NEXT COURSE OF ACTION; BUT THE FREQ WAS BUSY AND HE COULDN'T GET IN RIGHT AWAY. MEANWHILE; THE FLT ATTENDANT CALLED BACK AGAIN WITH 4 RAPID CHIMES AND SAID IN A PANICKED VOICE THAT IT WAS REALLY BAD AND THAT SHE HAD ALREADY MOVED ALL PAX TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE ACFT. AT THIS TIME I TOLD FO TO GET HOLD OF TWR AND TELL THEM THAT WE NEEDED TO GET OFF THE ACTIVE TXWY AND THAT WE WERE GOING TO DEPLANE BECAUSE OF SMOKE IN THE CABIN AND TO SEND THE FIRE TRUCKS. I TURNED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND SHUT DOWN. ONCE SHUT DOWN; I OPENED THE COCKPIT DOOR AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED SMOKE AND VERY NOXIOUS FUMES THAT IMMEDIATELY BURNED MY EYES AND THROAT. I TOLD FO TO HELP THE FLT ATTENDANT WITH THE DEPLANING; AND HE DID. ONCE EVERYONE WAS OFF THE PLANE; I WALKED THROUGH THE PLANE TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WAS OFF AND THEN I ALSO DEPLANED.
