Narrative:
On apr/xa/08 a controller called in sick because he could not sleep during the day on the 8 hours he had off between shifts. His reason was fatigue. We are not allowed to take sleep medicine and then work within 48 hours.

Title: BHM CTLR DISCUSSED FACILITY SICK LEAVE POLICY; CLAIMING MGMNT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE FATIGUE AS AN ABSENCE EXCUSE.
Narrative: ON APR/XA/08 A CTLR CALLED IN SICK BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SLEEP DURING THE DAY ON THE 8 HRS HE HAD OFF BTWN SHIFTS. HIS REASON WAS FATIGUE. WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE SLEEP MEDICINE AND THEN WORK WITHIN 48 HRS.
