Narrative:

Upon taxiing out for runway 24 in teb we reviewed the teb 5 departure for runway 24. I took time to read the departure to the PF and made sure he understood level at 1500 ft. On takeoff the adcs 1 which was working the FD; switched to the #2 adcs. The PF was trying to get the FD back and I was helping him. When I looked up he was at 1700 ft when we should of been at 1500 ft. We took action to correct the problem. At the time we were descending ATC ask our altitude. I let them know we were at 1600 ft correcting to 1500 ft. No further discussing with ATC. We discussed the distraction and described the future roles with the outcome being to make sure only one person's head is down trying to correct the problem.
