Narrative:

The day I received my ses rating and then again the day after; I went to an area adjacent to the illinois river that I understood another pilot and instructor had used during training. The area isn't marked on the chicago sectional aeronautical chart as a national park service area; united states fish and wildlife service area; or a united states forest service area. The day after the second flight another friend informed me that he thought the area I had been using for water operations was not actually attached to the river and that it was a state wildlife area. Having this information on the sectional chart; or available from FSS or duat for acceptable areas for water operations; would alleviate this potential problem.
