Narrative:

While on landing rollout on runway 14 anc at XA40; at approximately 100 KTS the tower issued instructions to turn onto taxiway U. The normal taxiway to exit on runway 14 is taxiway M. We had no previous warning from the tower to 'plan uniform' due to traffic in trail. My response (I should not have even been talking on the radio during this phase of flight due to high speed; but thought it needed to be done) was 'unable.' the tower then said 'negative.' I said 'then we'll need to back-taxi.' tower said 'no you're not.' at this point the first officer pulled deep reverse; we rolled past taxiway U and I made a 180 degree turn and back to taxiway U. As I was still on the runway (not crossing the line; not approaching the line; but just starting my turn to exit from the runway); the tower cleared a B747 for takeoff. The tower even told the B747 'no delay due to traffic on a ?? Mi final.' the tower contacting us at such a high speed after touching down; his tone of voice and most important clearing an aircraft to takeoff while we were still on the runway very much concerns me. The event occurred because the tower was trying to do the best job they could at moving traffic. They had put a B747 into position and hold between landing aircraft. I understand what they are trying to do and they do a very good job at it. If I had been told to 'plan uniform' it would not have been an issue. Again; we are all trying to make this work and we can if a little heads-up warning is given. Normally; the tower does tell us to plan a certain taxiway if it is out of the ordinary. I believe this instance caught the tower off guard somewhat.

Title: ACR LNDG ANC DESCRIBED LNDG/TKOF MINIMAL SEPARATION EVENT WHEN CTLR'S INSTRUCTIONS TO EXIT RWY WERE NOT FOLLOWED BECAUSE OF SPEED.

Narrative: WHILE ON LNDG ROLLOUT ON RWY 14 ANC AT XA40; AT APPROX 100 KTS THE TWR ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN ONTO TXWY U. THE NORMAL TXWY TO EXIT ON RWY 14 IS TXWY M. WE HAD NO PREVIOUS WARNING FROM THE TWR TO 'PLAN UNIFORM' DUE TO TFC IN TRAIL. MY RESPONSE (I SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN TALKING ON THE RADIO DURING THIS PHASE OF FLT DUE TO HIGH SPD; BUT THOUGHT IT NEEDED TO BE DONE) WAS 'UNABLE.' THE TWR THEN SAID 'NEGATIVE.' I SAID 'THEN WE'LL NEED TO BACK-TAXI.' TWR SAID 'NO YOU'RE NOT.' AT THIS POINT THE FO PULLED DEEP REVERSE; WE ROLLED PAST TXWY U AND I MADE A 180 DEG TURN AND BACK TO TXWY U. AS I WAS STILL ON THE RWY (NOT XING THE LINE; NOT APCHING THE LINE; BUT JUST STARTING MY TURN TO EXIT FROM THE RWY); THE TWR CLRED A B747 FOR TKOF. THE TWR EVEN TOLD THE B747 'NO DELAY DUE TO TFC ON A ?? MI FINAL.' THE TWR CONTACTING US AT SUCH A HIGH SPD AFTER TOUCHING DOWN; HIS TONE OF VOICE AND MOST IMPORTANT CLRING AN ACFT TO TKOF WHILE WE WERE STILL ON THE RWY VERY MUCH CONCERNS ME. THE EVENT OCCURRED BECAUSE THE TWR WAS TRYING TO DO THE BEST JOB THEY COULD AT MOVING TFC. THEY HAD PUT A B747 INTO POS AND HOLD BTWN LNDG ACFT. NORMALLY; THE TWR DOES TELL US TO PLAN A CERTAIN TXWY IF IT IS OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I BELIEVE THIS INSTANCE CAUGHT THE TWR OFF GUARD SOMEWHAT.
