Narrative:
During our departure from clt to ZZZ we passed the zaver intersection off of the BOB1 departure; we then followed our flight plan route to vxv for a short period of time before realizing that would take us into adverse WX. I ask ATC if we could go direct to bna and that would keep us clear of the WX. ATC advised us we should be going direct bna after zaver. The controller seemed confused at first and then advised us that this has been happening a lot. He asked to call a number when we got to ZZZ so we could help them understand how this kept happening and how to resolve it. After landing in ZZZ I called the atl TRACON and talked to the supervisor on duty; he advised me that this was happening a lot and I explained that this routing was what was on our release and that there must be a misinterp with the clearance. I explained to him that I would contact our dispatch and have them change our preferred routing to not include vxv; he appreciated the help and explained there would be no further action he just wanted to understand how this was happening with other carriers. I called our dispatch and explained what happened and they said they would inform the person in charge of the preferred routing to have it changed. On the ground in clt when the first officer was getting the clearance I was interrupted by the ground crew with a question; I heard the clearance up to zaver and heard the readback; but never heard direct bna. When we got the release the first officer entered the flight plan to include vxv after zaver which was on the printed flight release. Before leaving the gate I reviewed the FMS using the printed release and asked the first officer if we were cleared on the BOB1 departure zaver transition; both of us overlooked that the given clearance did not include vxv.

Title: AN ACR CREW DEP CLT ON THE BOBCAT ONE ZAVER TRANSITION DIRECT BNA. THE RTE WAS DIFFERENT FROM FLT PLANNED ROUTE. DIRECT BNA WAS NOT ENTERED IN THE FMS.
Narrative: DURING OUR DEP FROM CLT TO ZZZ WE PASSED THE ZAVER INTXN OFF OF THE BOB1 DEP; WE THEN FOLLOWED OUR FLT PLAN RTE TO VXV FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE REALIZING THAT WOULD TAKE US INTO ADVERSE WX. I ASK ATC IF WE COULD GO DIRECT TO BNA AND THAT WOULD KEEP US CLR OF THE WX. ATC ADVISED US WE SHOULD BE GOING DIRECT BNA AFTER ZAVER. THE CTLR SEEMED CONFUSED AT FIRST AND THEN ADVISED US THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING A LOT. HE ASKED TO CALL A NUMBER WHEN WE GOT TO ZZZ SO WE COULD HELP THEM UNDERSTAND HOW THIS KEPT HAPPENING AND HOW TO RESOLVE IT. AFTER LNDG IN ZZZ I CALLED THE ATL TRACON AND TALKED TO THE SUPVR ON DUTY; HE ADVISED ME THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING A LOT AND I EXPLAINED THAT THIS ROUTING WAS WHAT WAS ON OUR RELEASE AND THAT THERE MUST BE A MISINTERP WITH THE CLRNC. ON THE GND IN CLT WHEN THE FO WAS GETTING THE CLRNC I WAS INTERRUPTED BY THE GND CREW WITH A QUESTION; I HEARD THE CLRNC UP TO ZAVER AND HEARD THE READBACK; BUT NEVER HEARD DIRECT BNA. WHEN WE GOT THE RELEASE THE FO ENTERED THE FLT PLAN TO INCLUDE VXV AFTER ZAVER WHICH WAS ON THE PRINTED FLT RELEASE. BEFORE LEAVING THE GATE I REVIEWED THE FMS USING THE PRINTED RELEASE AND ASKED THE FO IF WE WERE CLRED ON THE BOB1 DEP ZAVER TRANSITION; BOTH OF US OVERLOOKED THAT THE GIVEN CLRNC DID NOT INCLUDE VXV.
