Narrative:
I was troubleshooting aircraft X using the mcdp remote to extract the diagnostic code related to the eec and ats problem that was previously discovered and deferred using the MEL. I inadvertently left the mcdp remote on the aircraft with the intention of returning to perform more test and analysis. I discussed my findings with technical service; who needed more time to evaluate for a positive repair. I was distraction with numerous discrepancies on the same aircraft; and did not hear back from technical service on what I could do further in relation to this discrepancy. The flight crew found the mcdp remote; still attached; in the cockpit when the preflight was performed. The mcdp remote was removed.
