Narrative:
Radar vector to localizer approach into stp by msp approach control. Upon intercepting localizer clrd for approach. Changed to stp tower and reported OM inbound. Clrd to land. Tower called and said msp approach advised we were 2 mi left of course. Discovered both captain and copilot (who was flying) had failed to dial in localizer frequency and were using gep VOR for approach. Called for immediate missed approach and msp approach control vectored us for another approach for an uneventful approach and landing. Captain had been to CRM recently and was very chagrined and embarrassed not to monitor copilot and himself as to correct frequencys for ILS localizer approach. Can never be too alert and careful. Copilot was new on type and perhaps captain was more intent on monitoring his performance than his own.

Title: IMC CONDITIONS MAKING A LOCALIZER APCH, FLT CREW FAILED TO TUNE TO LOCALIZER FREQ. APCH CTLR ADVISED THROUGH THE TWR, ACFT 2 MILES LEFT OF TRACK.
Narrative: RADAR VECTOR TO LOC APCH INTO STP BY MSP APCH CTL. UPON INTERCEPTING LOC CLRD FOR APCH. CHANGED TO STP TWR AND RPTED OM INBND. CLRD TO LAND. TWR CALLED AND SAID MSP APCH ADVISED WE WERE 2 MI LEFT OF COURSE. DISCOVERED BOTH CAPT AND COPLT (WHO WAS FLYING) HAD FAILED TO DIAL IN LOC FREQ AND WERE USING GEP VOR FOR APCH. CALLED FOR IMMEDIATE MISSED APCH AND MSP APCH CTL VECTORED US FOR ANOTHER APCH FOR AN UNEVENTFUL APCH AND LNDG. CAPT HAD BEEN TO CRM RECENTLY AND WAS VERY CHAGRINED AND EMBARRASSED NOT TO MONITOR COPLT AND HIMSELF AS TO CORRECT FREQS FOR ILS LOC APCH. CAN NEVER BE TOO ALERT AND CAREFUL. COPLT WAS NEW ON TYPE AND PERHAPS CAPT WAS MORE INTENT ON MONITORING HIS PERFORMANCE THAN HIS OWN.
