Narrative:
On departure with mdw tower; controller gave us clearance for a right turn to a heading 090 degrees except to maintain non-standard 2000 ft for traffic at 3000 ft. Seconds after leveling at 2000 ft and heading 090 degrees; we received a 1500 FPM RA which we responded to followed by GPWS alert which we also responded to leveling at approximately 1500-1600 ft MSL. We observed a single engine low wing GA aircraft pass directly overhead approximately 400-500 ft above us according to our TCAS. We advised ATC (mdw tower) that we were responding to an RA and that we also observed the aircraft 400/500 ft above. No comment was made by the controller and we were advised to contact chicago departure control. Supplemental information from acn 803978: departing out of mdw we were given a clearance to climb to 2000 ft instead of the normal 3000 ft for traffic. I was the PF and I leveled off at 2000 ft. A few moments later we were given a clearance to climb to 3000 ft.

Title: A B737 FLT CREW DEPARTING MDW HAD A NMAC WITH A SMALL AIRCRAFT.
Narrative: ON DEP WITH MDW TWR; CTLR GAVE US CLRNC FOR A R TURN TO A HDG 090 DEGS EXCEPT TO MAINTAIN NON-STANDARD 2000 FT FOR TFC AT 3000 FT. SECONDS AFTER LEVELING AT 2000 FT AND HDG 090 DEGS; WE RECEIVED A 1500 FPM RA WHICH WE RESPONDED TO FOLLOWED BY GPWS ALERT WHICH WE ALSO RESPONDED TO LEVELING AT APPROX 1500-1600 FT MSL. WE OBSERVED A SINGLE ENG LOW WING GA ACFT PASS DIRECTLY OVERHEAD APPROX 400-500 FT ABOVE US ACCORDING TO OUR TCAS. WE ADVISED ATC (MDW TWR) THAT WE WERE RESPONDING TO AN RA AND THAT WE ALSO OBSERVED THE ACFT 400/500 FT ABOVE. NO COMMENT WAS MADE BY THE CTLR AND WE WERE ADVISED TO CONTACT CHICAGO DEP CTL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 803978: DEPARTING OUT OF MDW WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC TO CLB TO 2000 FT INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 3000 FT FOR TFC. I WAS THE PF AND I LEVELED OFF AT 2000 FT. A FEW MOMENTS LATER WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC TO CLB TO 3000 FT.
