Narrative:
Lining up on runway 27 in san for takeoff; first officer's leg. Captain using the tiller before handing over the aircraft; the raas announced 'on runway 27' at exactly the same moment that the captain was saying 'you have the aircraft' and the first officer was replying 'I have the aircraft.' we had to repeat ourselves; with raised voices; to ensure that the change of control had in fact been made and acknowledged. During this needless distraction and forced repetition our ability to listen to ATC was impaired. Very simple -- get rid of raas. Just FYI -- in the time since we have had this system inflicted on us again I have not flown with or spoken to a single pilot who doesn't absolutely hate it and think it is just about the dumbest thing at this airline -- and boy; is that saying a lot. Listen to your line pilots and get this hazard out of our cockpits.
