Narrative:

This report is to highlight a possible maintenance vendor error. B767 had a problem with the center right fuel pump. After 10 days of troubleshooting; it was discovered that a connector pin was miswired. Apparently; the fuel system and connector pin in question recently installed. According to one maintenance entry; it was a ZZZ job order. If it was ZZZ; the order would have been performed by a contract vendor. If this vendor is performing this order on the B767 fleet; how many other connector pins in how many other aircraft have been miswired? Are there other B767s out there with miswired fuel connectors because of this vendor doing this job order? Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the original deferral involved the center right fuel pump low pressure light in the cockpit. Reporter stated the engineering order involved installing either a new wire bundle; or a specific electrical wire added to the wire bundle from the cockpit fuel pump switch to the center fuel pump connectors. He is concerned that if more B767-300's are having the engineering order accomplished by an outside maintenance vendor; these other aircraft may also have; or develop; the same low pressure light problem related to a miswired connector pin.
