Narrative:

On climbout passing 15;000 ft; noticed right engine oil temperature was in amber range indicating 167 degrees. Performed the engine oil temperature high (u) irregular procedure. Captain remained pilot flying and took over radio communications as I executed checklist procedure. Procedure states to 'land at the nearest suitable airport.' consulted with captain. Declared emergency with ATC. Received clearance to return to ZZZ. Contacted dispatch and coordinated divert. Advised flight attendants of problem; issued a cabin advisory; and explained we would be normal landing in approximately 10 minutes. Made PA to passengers. Captain landed flaps 20 degrees in accordance with flight manual. Landing was overweight. On rollout; right oil temperature went to red band and indicated 177 degrees. On rollout at taxi speed; captain ordered right engine shut down. After clearing runway; firefighters did a visual inspection of right engine. No abnormalities noted; so we taxied to gate.
