Narrative:
Taxi out. Extensive delay. Aircraft/IRU position shown to drift so pilots performed alignment and operations normal. After departure captain and first officer performed a navigation accuracy check and were successful and within limits. Upon track exit at point: shannon control advised that aircraft was approximately 5 miles north of point. Indicated on course. No conflict involved. Upon flight termination; irus indicated excessive drift.

Title: An air carrier aircraft's inertial reference units (IRUs) were reported off by 5 miles after an Atlantic crossing.
Narrative: Taxi out. Extensive delay. Aircraft/IRU position shown to drift so pilots performed alignment and operations normal.
