Narrative:
I was taking the whett departure sector over from the cgt controller when large transport X departed ord. Before I arrived the cgt controller had taken a point out on light transport Y wbound descending through the sector to 17000'. He then forced the data block down and never advised me of the point out. I climbed the departure to FL230. A third party then advised me of light transport Y and I turned large transport X left to a 090 heading. The turn was not enough to maintain 5 mi sep.
