Narrative:
Upon arrival to work; I was assigned to remove and replace (right/right) the left flap position transmitter on a B737-800. The job was accomplished per the aircraft maintenance manual (amm). Performed all required tests per this amm. All test results normal; no faults noted. I was later notified that a 'land verify' test was required due to right/right of flap position transmitter. This test was not listed in the amm procedure for this task. In certain chapters of the amm; at the end of the component installation procedure; it specifically states that 'land verify' is required. Discussed the matter with the shift manager and reviewed the amm; MEL and the CAT ii/III awareness video.I recommend that the 'land verify' requirements be added to the amm for the right/right of all CAT critical components.
