Narrative:
About 2 seconds after putting throttles in flex detent; we got an 'ENG2 compressor vane' ECAM with associated master caution 'ding'. I then aborted the takeoff at approximately 40 KTS. Reverse was not used and the brakes weren't used until needed to turn off the runway. Taxied back to gate with no other problems.
