Narrative:
Visual approach to runway; normal profile; vref speed over the numbers; touchdown vref -10 KTS; progressive developing yaw to the left - corrected with right rudder to full deflection + small amount of right brake. Aircraft yawed left but returned on course to the runway centerline - coasted off the runway onto a adjacent taxiway and advised ATC and shut down the engines; exited the aircraft to check for damage (negative fire); visual inspection indicated catastrophic failure of the left main tire with apparent damage to the associated wheel assembly. Airport operations met us at the plane and we proceeded to get assistance in moving the aircraft.
