Narrative:
First officer (me) was flying leg to dfw. Approximately 15 minutes southwest of dfw; we were cleared to turn from 030 to 010 direct huten; descend and maintain 3000 ft until established and cleared ILS 36L at dfw. We were IMC. We noted an intruder aircraft on TCAS approximate 5000 ft below our altitude and on a converging course. We continued and monitored. Received a TA followed by a 'monitor vertical speed;' followed by an RA 'climb.' I executed the TCAS RA procedures and began to climb until we received 'clear of conflict.' leveled at approximately 3500 ft. Captain notified ATC that we were responding to an RA. Approach then recleared us for the approach which we completed without further incident. TCAS showed us within 200 ft cpa of intruder aircraft. Neither of us heard any ATC report of the traffic prior to the RA. Captain called approach upon arrival and notified dispatch. We both submitted reports.
