Narrative:

Immediately after departing; first officer's window developed a loud air leak that grew louder as we climbed. At pressure differential of 3.1 conversation was nearly impossible; we leveled off and slowed aircraft and confirmed window was properly closed. Returned to land; declared an emergency due to overweight landing (542;000 pounds). Touchdown and rollout were uneventful. Taxied to hardstand where maintenance determined that the window seal had failed and replaced it. Overweight landing inspection completed. Departed for our original destination.
