Narrative:
As we taxied into the gate at bos we had to stop quickly as a baggage tug with 2 or 3 carts behind came from my left side and did a quick 180 to his left to avoid contact with my left engine. The driver was going very fast and did not see us until he was inside the white no transgression lines. We stopped to avoid him and after getting secured at the gate; called ops to report this and get a supervisor to speak to. After securing the aircraft; the first officer and I went out on the ramp to speak to the driver. He was not around. I was unable to get the tug or cart numbers as it was dark out.
