Narrative:
We were operating flight lax-ord. Holding short of runway 25R an large transport ahead of us was cleared to taxi across runway 25R and hold short of runway 25L. Tower then cleared us into position and hold runway 25R. As we were taxiing onto runway 25R, I saw a light twin lined up for runway 25R, or he appeared to be. At the same time, tower ordered us to clear the runway. We added power to clear runway 25R, and stopped between runways 25R and 25L. We were then switched to another frequency (119.8) to explain what had happened, then back to tower and on our way. I believe this problem occurred because of using both runways 25R and 25L for both takeoff and landing at the same time. Supplemental information from acn 85319: lax tower checked their tapes and admitted the clearance error.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR LGT TAXIED CLEAR OF RWY WHEN FLT CREW SAW AN ACFT ON FINAL. TWR REVIEWED TAPES AND ADMITTED THEIR ERROR.
Narrative: WE WERE OPERATING FLT LAX-ORD. HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 25R AN LGT AHEAD OF US WAS CLRED TO TAXI ACROSS RWY 25R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25L. TWR THEN CLRED US INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 25R. AS WE WERE TAXIING ONTO RWY 25R, I SAW A LIGHT TWIN LINED UP FOR RWY 25R, OR HE APPEARED TO BE. AT THE SAME TIME, TWR ORDERED US TO CLR THE RWY. WE ADDED PWR TO CLR RWY 25R, AND STOPPED BTWN RWYS 25R AND 25L. WE WERE THEN SWITCHED TO ANOTHER FREQ (119.8) TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAD HAPPENED, THEN BACK TO TWR AND ON OUR WAY. I BELIEVE THIS PROB OCCURRED BECAUSE OF USING BOTH RWYS 25R AND 25L FOR BOTH TKOF AND LNDG AT THE SAME TIME. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 85319: LAX TWR CHKED THEIR TAPES AND ADMITTED THE CLRNC ERROR.
