Narrative:

As we approached our gate; a 'dogleg' entry; the first guideman was in position and we followed signals to the turn point. He signaled to second guideman position where no one was placed. First guideman then walked over to that position and eventually lead us in to parking position. This gate is not a single guideman gate and this required me to stop the airplane mid turn or continue without guidance until initial man could walk over. This is not a safe situation and needs to be corrected. I have now twice experienced this at this gate.
