Narrative:
Departing hdn; non-radar environment. Holding short awaiting release from den center; they asked if we were familiar with the IFR departure procedure for runway 10. We said we were. There are no published sids for hdn. We flew the published procedure; after release; which calls for a climbing right turn back to che VOR to get up to MEA. As we were climbing westbound after our turn; den said they had expected us to fly a 147 heading to 12;200 ft; then on course. Upon further review; we found this published in very small print at the bottom of the commercial chart airport page in very small print under obstacle clearance procedure. No traffic conflict that we knew of nor any problem with den center. I think we should add a flight plan message to hdn flights to ensure they are on the same page with what ATC is expecting us to fly. None of the pages that describe in great detail how to depart from hdn refer us to this hidden directive.

Title: A B757-200 Flight Crew reported some confusion in proper departure procedures from HDN. They apparently missed a small note at the bottom of the chart.
