Narrative:
After completing job card for (case drain filter replacement) leak check and clean-up; the quick disconnect case drain line to the pylon was not re-connected. Unfortunately this resulted in an air return due to loss of hydraulic pressure and fluid causing the engine pump to fail. I requested that the job card have a separate mechanic and/or inspector buy back. By having this additional step will hopefully ensure that this area will not be over looked in the future.

Title: A Line Mechanic reports he forgot to re-connect the #2 engine hydraulic case drain line to the engine pylon of a B737-800. The loss of hydraulic pressure and fluid caused the #2 engine driven hydraulic pump to fail resulting in an air turnback by the flight crew.
