Narrative:

We checked our fuel burn during climb out and realized that we were burning more fuel than normal. I discovered that the flight release weight was less than our actual. This caused a higher fuel burn. However; we calculated we had enough fuel to land without using fuel from our reserves. A manual weight and balance was required due to a new gate agent. She had no help; no radios. There was confusion about adding a jumpseater that caused distractions.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: A new station agent did not use an Electronic Weight and Balance System for a final release. The aircraft was heavier than the manual weight calculation causing an additional fuel burn. The Flight Crew and Dispatcher conferred about the fuel while enroute and decided there was enough fuel to safely reach their planned destination.
