Narrative:
Flight with same call but different company was on our frequency with ind center. Controller gave the flight number without a company name a descent to FL280 which we read back with our call sign and company with no response from center. Passing FL343 center asked us to verify our altitude of FL350. We told him we had been given FL280 and he then told us there was another company with the same call sign. The controller did not learn from the mistake, however, because he clipped the company name on the next transmission.

Narrative: FLT WITH SAME CALL BUT DIFFERENT COMPANY WAS ON OUR FREQ WITH IND CENTER. CTLR GAVE THE FLT NUMBER WITHOUT A COMPANY NAME A DSCNT TO FL280 WHICH WE READ BACK WITH OUR CALL SIGN AND COMPANY WITH NO RESPONSE FROM CENTER. PASSING FL343 CENTER ASKED US TO VERIFY OUR ALT OF FL350. WE TOLD HIM WE HAD BEEN GIVEN FL280 AND HE THEN TOLD US THERE WAS ANOTHER COMPANY WITH THE SAME CALL SIGN. THE CTLR DID NOT LEARN FROM THE MISTAKE, HOWEVER, BECAUSE HE CLIPPED THE COMPANY NAME ON THE NEXT XMISSION.
