Narrative:
We finished checklist; looked at our commercial chart. It showed that only a courtesy call was required. Since there was radio chat; we commenced the push without calling. We soon heard; 'company pushing off of gate # say callsign.' we indicated that we were company # and waited for instructions. He told us that the gate required a push call. I told him that our chart said it was not required. He said they have been calling the company for more than a week on this issue. The problem is that the tail will end up on taxiway D.
