Aircraft X (A319) was in position after aircraft Y (B752); with aircraft Z (MD88) 1 1/4 mile final when aircraft X began takeoff roll. Aircraft X's first target hit was only 3.8 miles in trail of the B752; and soon become 4 miles. Do not load in that hole.

Title: Boston Tower Controller released a departure between two arrivals with marginal spacing; resulting in less than required initial spacing of two departures.
Narrative: Aircraft X (A319) was in position after Aircraft Y (B752); with Aircraft Z (MD88) 1 1/4 mile final when Aircraft X began takeoff roll. Aircraft X's first target hit was only 3.8 miles in trail of the B752; and soon become 4 miles. DO NOT LOAD in that hole.
