Narrative:
Landed in strong crosswinds. Gust to 38 KTS. On rollout tower advised of smoke from left of aircraft. We called for fire equipment on tower frequency as we cleared the runway. Tower advised that the situation was ok and taxi to the gate without incident. Departing the aircraft; maintenance advised that they were replacing both nosewheel tires.

Title: A B747-400 Captain landed with crosswinds gusting to 38 KTS. Smoke was reported by ATC and the crew was later informed that the nosewheel tires were damaged and would be replaced.
Narrative: Landed in strong crosswinds. Gust to 38 KTS. On rollout Tower advised of smoke from left of aircraft. We called for fire equipment on Tower frequency as we cleared the runway.
