Narrative:
After numerous maintenance resets on the ground for inoperative FMGC2; flight departed. On the climb; passing FL180; dual FMGC failure. No navigation information from FMGC caused request for vectors to downline fix. Procedure followed for dual FMGC failure and subsequent reset. Able to restore FMGC 1 with no success for recovery of FMGC 2. Maintenance contacted along with dispatch to advise of failure. Use of captain's emergency authority to reset circuit breakers in flight. After recovery of FMGC 1; flight proceeded to destination.

Title: An A320 flight crew reported a dual FMGC failure in flight after several preflight resets by maintenance for similar failures. FMGC 1 reset successfully.
