Narrative:
I did a round trip on this aircraft. Upon arriving at the gate I was advised that one of our mechanics was riding as a passenger on the flight and noticed that the passenger seats weren't installed properly and informed me that we needed to call maintenance. Our mechanic found 4 rows of seats that weren't bolted into the side of the aircraft. Upon reviewing the maintenance history I noted that on two previous occasions; 12 days apart; there were similar write ups for different rows.I am not sure why it occurred; but I was hoping the company could look into this. I do know that I am the final authority for determining the airworthiness of the airplane. There is no way that this airplane was worthy of passenger service and I would have never put passengers on if I had known there was this problem. It seems that this problem existed and was undetected for almost a month.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CRJ700 Captain was informed after landing by a deadheading Mechanic that four rows of seats were not bolted to the side wall as required. Examination of the logbook indicates that other seat rows were discovered to be incorrectly installed on two previous occasions over a four week time frame.
