Narrative:
After departing runway 6 at teb; executed teterboro 6 departure and was handed off to ny departure control. Initially given headings and climbs without problem. Then given a radial to intercept off colts neck VOR. Pilot not flying required several repeats of ATC instructions; then accidentally entered coyle VOR frequency 113.4 into navs instead of colts neck VOR frequency 115.4. In trying to track the incorrect VOR; aircraft deviated from ATC specified track. Eventually ny departure cleared aircraft direct to another point down flight planned route and flight proceeded without further problems. No traffic conflicts were noted on TCAS nor by ATC. No altitude deviations. Contributing factors: busy airspace; busy comm frequency; multiple rapid fire ATC instructions; old avionics that are not user friendly; small simple moving map display that does not help much with situational awareness.
