Narrative:
Aircraft in level flight on autopilot. Continuous light to moderate turbulence. Electric elevator trim malfunctioned (jammed). When trim system was disengaged nose pitched suddenly causing abrupt pitch and altitude change. No complaints from approach. No loss of aircraft separation. Manual trim worked normally. Electric trim seemed to be normal. ATC cleared aircraft for several altitude changes (climb). Re-engaged autopilot approximately 10 minutes after first trim malfunction. Electric elevator trim malfunctioned a second time causing abrupt pitch and altitude change. ATC reported seeing aircraft 200 feet high. Crew acknowledged and returned to cleared altitude. No loss of aircraft separation was reported. Remainder of flight accomplished without autopilot or electric elevator trim usage.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BE-90 Captain reported experiencing jammed electric elevator trim which led to an altitude deviation. Remainder of flight flown without autopilot and electric elevator trim.
