Narrative:
All of the traffic at south lafourche airport; galliano; louisiana regional airport; and venice use the same frequency - 123.000. Among the many operators utilizing this frequency are all of the general aviation at the two airports plus cougar; phi; era; chevron and both rotorcraft and bristow operate at both galliano and venice. All of the calls are 'in the blind' except that phi does have someone in their tower that responds to their calls. Broadcasts are made for repositioning on the ground; take-off; clear; 10 miles; 5 miles; 2 miles; and landing. As you can see; this is extremely busy. You have to wait for your turn and hope you don't cut anybody off; and you can hear all of the traffic no matter where you are every day even though galliano and venice are 50 miles apart. Since galliano has an airport basically co-located; recommend changing the venice frequencies.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A helicopter pilot reported that CTAF airports 45LA; GAO; L38 and several other oil rig support bases share the same UNICOM frequency; 123.00. The ground repositioning; takeoff; and VFR pattern position reporting makes the frequency extremely congested.
